Wireless home theater

The concept of a wireless home theater solution is not new (we’ve seen some pretty cool wireless HDMI stuff from Gefen), but Neosonik’s wireless home theater system is the first all-in-one solution we’ve seen. If the quality is any good (we haven’t had a chance to test it), this thing is awesome.

USB to PCMCIA? Can you do that?

Yeah, I didn’t believe it at first when I read it either - but seriously, you can use a 3G wireless card (HSDPA, EDGE, EVDO, etc.) with a USB to PCMCIA adapter. This is pretty cool technology since so many people are buying laptops now without PCMCIA slots and most 3G cards are still PCMCIA.

Pull-string power

Looks like the OLPC (one laptop per child) project is yielding some pretty cool stuff for commercial use, too. Eventually we hope to be able to buy these pull-strings for powering our cars :) I just hope that the evil oil industry doesn’t come and confiscate our car-pullers in the middle of the night…

CrowdSpirit let’s you do just that - it is basically an organization of regular Joe’s (ie, you and me) who meet together to decide what features they would like to see in new projects. Then investors pony up some dough for a prototype, the community test it and it is refined.

We don’t know if this model will actually work, but if it does take off it sounds pretty cool…

Avega Wireless Speakers

Wouldn’t it be sweet if you could steam music wirelessly through your house using your existing wi-fi network? You should be able to soon since Avega (an Australian startup) is licensing its proprietary technology to speaker manufacturers. Expect to see this stuff hit the shelves sometime in 2007.
